Shorter Treks in the Everest Region

Annapurna | Everest | Langtang | Manaslu | Climbing | Biking | Rafting | Safari

For those with more limited time we are able to offer shorter treks in the Everest region which will give the opportunity to see the world’s highest mountain fairly close up. Various combinations are paossible and we can arrange a trek to your requirements. Two examples are as follows:

Tengboche Monastery

Day 1 Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding (2800m)
A spectacular flight in a Twin Otter 20-seater aircraft with an even more spectacular landing on the 600m airstrip.  The trail from Lukla joins the Dudh Kosi main track at Cheplung after a short downhill walk. There follows some gentle up and down to the night stop. An easy start to the trek.

Day 2 Phakding - Namche Bazar (3440m)
The route now passes through magnificent rhododendron and magnolia forests on the ascent to Namche. At Monjo, we enter the Sagarmatha National Park. Look out for musk deer and Himalayan tahr, and water rats in the Dudh Kosi.

Day 3 Namche Bazar (3440m)
Rest and acclimatisation day. Walk up the western valley from the town to Thamo, visit the nunnery there.

Day 4 Namche Bazar - Tengboche (3870m)
After descending to Pungi Tengka where we have lunch, we have a long uphill path to the famous monastery at Tengboche.

Day 5 Tengboche (3870m)
A chance to explore the monastery especially during the three days of the Mani Rimdu festival which takes place every November. Dawn breaks to the sounds of trumpets and drums from the monastery, and the view of the mountains is magnificent. Visible are Kongde, Taweche, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kangtega and Thamserku.

Day 6 Tengboche - Namche Bazar (3440m)
Return via the outward route.

Day 7 Namche Bazar - Phakding (2800m)
Continue along the outward route.

Day 8 Phakding - Lukla (2800m)
Again back along the outward route.

Day 9 Lukla - Kathmandu
